Jak przygotować herbatę

The Shincha Asuka Chiran 2026 is a delicate first harvest tea, so we recommend using slightly cooler water and a short brewing time. This allows you to preserve its smooth sweetness, fresh aroma and rich umami without bringing out too much bitterness.

  • Krok 1

Heat your water to 65 degrees Celsius, or 150 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • Krok 2

Add 5 grams of Shincha Asuka Chiran 2026 to your kyusu teapot or tea strainer.

  • Krok 3

Pour in 150ml of hot water and let the tea leaves brew for 45 seconds.

  • Krok 4

After the leaves have finished brewing, pour out the tea completely and enjoy this fresh, sweet and umami-rich shincha.

  • 2. parzenie

The first infusion of Shincha Asuka Chiran 2026 is the smoothest and most aromatic, but the leaves still have more to give. For the second and third brewing, use the same water temperature and steep the leaves for around 20 seconds.

Cold brewing is also a great way to enjoy this first harvest tea. Add 5 grams of leaves to a pitcher or cup, pour in 150ml of room temperature or chilled water and let the tea sit for 3 hours. This method brings out even more sweetness and reduces the bitterness, creating a smooth and refreshing shincha.

Niezbędne naczynia do herbaty

To prepare the best cup of Shincha Asuka Chiran 2026, we recommend using a kyusu teapot. A fukamushi-style kyusu with a circular metal strainer works especially well for Japanese green teas because it allows the tea to pour smoothly without letting the leaves clog the spout. If the leaves stay in contact with the water too long, the tea can overbrew and become bitter. Alternative without teaware If you don’t have a teapot at home, you can also use a tea strainer. This will separate the leaves as you pour and stop the infusion, although the flavor may not be quite as rich as it would be in a kyusu.

As the name suggests, this tea comes from Chiran, a famous tea-producing area in Kagoshima, on the southern island of Kyushu. Chiran benefits from a warm climate, fertile soils and excellent growing conditions for Japanese green tea. This 2026 shincha was made from the first young leaves of spring, giving it a fresher, more vibrant and more nutrient-rich profile than later harvest teas.

The Shincha Asuka Chiran 2026 is made from a blend of four cultivars: Yabukita, Yutaka Midori, Asatsuyu and Saemidori. Each cultivar brings something different to the cup. Yabukita provides structure, Yutaka Midori adds deep green intensity, Asatsuyu contributes sweetness and Saemidori brings smooth umami and a bright color.

  • Yabukita

Yabukita is the most widely grown tea plant variety in Japan. It produces a balanced flavor with a rich savory character and strong steamed vegetable notes.

  • Yutaka Midori

Yutaka Midori is the second most popular tea plant variety in Japan. Its name means “abundant green” and it is known for producing deep green teas with powerful grassy and vegetal flavors.

  • Asatsuyu

Asatsuyu is one of the sweetest cultivars used for Japanese green tea. It is sometimes called a “natural gyokuro” because it can produce a naturally smooth and sweet flavor even without long shading.

  • Saemidori

Saemidori is a prized tea cultivar known for its bright green color, smooth sweetness and strong umami. It is often used in premium Japanese green teas because it can produce a soft, elegant flavor with very little bitterness.
